Let’s talk today on the universe we are living in since we are supposed to know what we are in and the fact that I’m currently reading ‘The Universe in A Nutshell’ by Stephen Hawking. Many scientists now believe in the Big Bang theory for the beginning of this lovely universe we are in; saying that this huge universe had actually started from a small extremely condensed energy. If you know of supernova, where a star exploding and scattering its materials and the energy in it to the surrounding space, then you’ll know what I mean.
This theory has caused a stirring up of the religious communities for it aligns well with the belief of God. In Islam, this is much or less a merit for our arguments against atheism; BUT we should be aware that Science doesn’t dictate how Islam is understood for we should know that Muslims are to put our Iman before our Aqal, lest we will be just like the atheist scientists who study and investigate the world we are living in but blinded by the avarice of their desires and uncontrolled dependence on their limited power of the mind. Even till today, we are seeing a great number of people of the Sciences who transgress from their belief of the existence of God.
Allah asked us to study and observe the nature in order to find Hidayah that Allah lays out for us. Allah asked the non-believers in Suratul Ghoshiah, verses 17-20: “Do they not look at the camels, how they were created? And at the heaven, how it was raised? And at the mountains, how they were rooted? And at the earth, how it was spread?” I can write more verses showing the importance of thinking and observing our surroundings for the sake of seeking the truth about Allah’s greatness but I rest this for you, O readers, to search them on your own, because I have another agenda in mind.
In the same Surah, the following 3 verses sound: “So remind them (O Muhammad p.b.u.h) – you are only one who reminds; you are not a dictator over them – except the one who turns away and disbelieves.” Therefore, O my beloved readers, please remember that our job of telling the truth or calling towards the truth (Da’wah) is still there for us to fulfill and we are not supposed to only be able to accuse those who disbelieve with neglect of the questions above. People today are very good at pointing out others’ limitations but forget to do reflections on theirs. Remember verse 44, Suratul Baqarah: “Is it (apt) of you to ask people to do good and forget about yourself while you read the Book? Have you then no sense?”
This universe coming from a single point of dense energy may well imply how Allah had created the start of this world. Strange some may think, how indeed you can get matters from energy? Well, if we are aware of the beautiful and popular equation of the recent time, E=mc^2, then you’ll know how this can happen. Energy is equal to mass times the square of the velocity of light being the constant. This denotes that matters which have mass can be formed from energy reiterating the duality of energy and matter.
Also, to state, the universe we are living in is expanding since if not, the whole universe should be of the same temperature right now which is not true. Things are created in pairs, Newton’s Third Law of Force states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction; so does energy which i mean to say in accordance with the Law mandating the conservation of energy, a star exists or doesn’t collapse on its own self - because of the concentric pulling force of its gravity – for it is burning fuel and radiating heat outwards. Therefore, my fellow readers, do keep in mind that we have to be balanced and that the best of things are those that are intermediate and stable. Ahsanul umur awsotuha. Please go and learn the meaning of this phrase for I fear some of us may understand it wrongly.
This entry is just to share my knowledge and bring us to realise and be thankful of Allah for providing us the appropriate conditions for us to live. It is also to spark our hearts into loving Allah for creating the laws that govern the running of this universe we are living in. Wallahu a’lam bis sowab. Till later my friends. Ma’assalamah.
